Woman's Death Ruled Homicide
Fairfax County police are investigating the death of 22-year-old Erika Yancey as a homicide. Yancey's body was found in her car in the 13700 block of Sunrise Valley Drive at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, and police said she died from stab wounds to her upper body.
Fairfax police spokeswoman Shelley Broderick said she could not say whether Yancey was in the driver's seat of the vehicle or if a weapon was found at the scene.
Police began investigating Yancey's disappearance after the property manager at Camden Dulles Station, the Herndon area complex where Yancey lived, reported finding a trail of blood leading to the dumpster at about 9 a.m. Monday.
After investigating the situation, police determined that Yancey and her car were missing. Police issued a request for assistance on Tuesday.
Broderick said Yancey had been living with someone at the apartment complex, but she did not know for how long. Police said Yancey was last seen on Sunday morning near Dulles International Airport.
